  • We had a lovely time and have already recommended Bowlish House to many friends. It is the quintessential country house hotel. The rooms are cozy & the breakfast is delicious. It was the perfect spot from which to explore the rest of Somerset

  • Bowlish House is a fantastic wedding venue. We had out wedding there in December and they really went out of their way to provide the best possible service and made the day truly tailored to us. The food was amazing, even though they were serving 80 guests the food was just as good as their Sunday lunch! The accommodation was great, and they worked some magic accommodating our ever changing and complicated requests! We would recommend Bowlish as a wonderful venue for a wedding. Kate and Scott

  • We had my Mum's wake at Bowlish House, and it was perfect. The ambience, setting and attention to detail were spot-on. The rooms we used were beautiful and furniture, antiques and decor added to the sophistication. The tea and coffee kept coming for top-ups and the buffet lunch was plentiful and superb. The bar staying open for us afterwards was an added bonus. Thank you Bowlish House for making the day perfect, we couldn't have asked for more.

  • The charming property together with host Nicola's ability to make us feel so at ease and comfortable are the main points to mention. The character of the house, even the creaky floorboards, was very appealing. …

  • Bowlish House, Shepton Mallet. Is a great place to stay. We were met by Audrey on reception who showed us around and to our rooms. The proprietors were really welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our rooms were clean and unique with their creaky floorboards. Breakfast is served in the Orangery and the menu is extensive and cooked superbly nothing is too much trouble.

Our unique home will soon be coming to the end of a complex restoration project. Overseen by previous owners, Dee Murren and Nicola Knight, we are now in the final stages. We have lovingly restored this Georgian gem with both style, functionality and preservation at its heart. From the creaky floorboards, which we have grown to adore, to the original tall sash windows, shutters, floor to ceiling panelling and original fireplaces, Bowlish House is the perfect place to recharge and restore.
